Botanical artwork for sale at The Butchart Gardens Seed & Gift Store, 800 Benvenuto Avenue, Brentwood Bay, BC; End of January: “Drawing Irises,” article written by Aurafidélité Arindam and pictures of her iris drawings are published in the BC Iris Society Newsletter; First weekend of March: show and sale of orchid drawings at the Annual Victoria Orchid Society Show, University of Victoria, BC; April: opening reception on Sunday April 4th, from 1pm to 4pm, as a featured artist in the Floral Art Show and sale of botanical drawings at the Sooke Harbour House Art Gallery, 1528 Whiffen Spit Road, Sooke, BC; May: show and sale of drawings at Eclectic Art and Gifts, 2170 Oak Bay Avenue, Victoria, BC.

Biography 

AURAFIDÉLITÉ ARINDAM is originally from the province of Ontario and her interest in art began at an early age. She later moved to Montreal for her Master’s studies at McGill University. Academically accomplished, she worked for several years in the private and public sector. In 1991, she moved with her husband to James Bay in Victoria, British Columbia. For several years, they worked for a UNESCO-sponsored project whose aim was to bring human unity and peace between various nations of the world.

Aurafidélité studied art in Victoria and apprenticed with her late husband, an accomplished professional artist and writer. He studied under the famous artist Salvador Dali and at prestigious international art schools around the world including the Arts Student League and the Pratt Institute in New York City, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Villa Medici Art Academy in Rome and the Art Institute in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. His artwork was exhibited in various locations throughout Europe and North America, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

Aurafidélité’s interest in botanical drawing and painting emerged from her passion for gardening which she developed in Victoria. Her art studio looks onto her rooftop patio garden in central James Bay and provides a great source of inspiration and interest. With our often hectic, fast-paced lives, she feels it is important to stop and admire the beauty and peace that nature provides and enrich our soul. It is her hope to communicate nature’s lasting beauty and peace through her botanical artwork.

Private commissions for botanical artwork are available with a 50% non-refundable deposit. Good quality affordable prints of her original botanical artwork are also available on demand.
