Lynda was born in Toronto and attended Leaside High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria College and her teaching certificate from Toronto Teachers’ College. Her professional career was in the field of Public School Education as a primary school teacher and consultant.
Since she discovered watercolour painting at the North York YMCA, Lynda has concentrated in this medium through study and workshops. In 1986, she combined her teaching ability and her knowledge of watercolour and began her own classes. She has shared her enthusiasm for the medium of watercolour with hundreds of students of all ages.
Lynda has a lifelong interest in gardening. Her grandfather and father grew beautiful flowers. As an award-winning flower arranger and long-time member of the Garden Club of Toronto and the flower committee at her church, she has great understanding of colours and shapes and a talent for knowing how flowers should be grouped for the best effects. Lynda duplicates the freshness and beauty of flowers using luminous transparent watercolours in her paintings.
Lynda served as President of the Botanical Artists of Canada for two years and for over 20 years she convened The Studio Group of Artists, which met first at the Toronto Botanical Gardens and then at Lawrence Park Community Church.
Her membership in several watercolour societies and art groups, including the Willowdale Group of Artists and the Botanical Artists of Canada, has allowed Lynda to participate in many art workshops and juried exhibitions, as well as studio tours. Her paintings can be found in private collections locally and abroad.
