DESCRIPTION

This workshop is ideal for the botanical artist looking for something a little different. A step-by-step floral project will be the focus of the two-day workshop with demonstrations, one-on-one interaction with students and detailed instructional handouts. Studies will lead up to the completion of a tonal drawing in graphite, followed by exercises designed to explore the intricate textures used in pen and ink drawings. The project will then be completed in pen and ink with subtle watercolour washes.

Day one: Establishing the drawing (based on a given project) and working on exercises to develop a graphite base followed by pen and ink techniques.

Day two: Continues with pen & ink techniques; completing the drawing in pen and ink and then applying subtle watercolour washes to finish the project at the end of the day.

DESCRIPTION

The Art of Botanical Drawing

This workshop is ideal for those wishing to learn a range of skills relating to drawing magnificent plants and flowers. Students will be given step-by-step instructions on how to establish realistic botanical drawings in graphite. The drawing process will be discussed in detail, along with exercises on gesture, contour drawing and blending techniques with graphite to produce three-dimensional form. The workshop is best suited to students with some drawing experience and an interest in botanical art.

Each day will include the following:

Discussions relating to the drawing process – along with exercises on gesture, contour drawing and blending techniques to produce three-dimensional form. Step-by-step project page handouts, demonstrations and personal interaction with each student will provide continuity and structure to the workshop.

DESCRIPTION

Florals with coloured pencils

This workshop will show students how to produce stunning effects in coloured pencil botanical work, equal to that of watercolour painting. Easy to use and convenient to store and replace, coloured pencils can be used alone or combined with graphite. Techniques such as burnishing and layering, along with accurate colour matching, tonal rendering and composition will help students to master this rewarding medium. A step-by-step floral portrait will be the focus of the workshop.
 
Day one: The first day of the workshop will focus on developing the drawing for the floral portrait and exploring the various techniques used in coloured pencil drawing.

Day two: The second day will continue in the development process working to complete a brilliant floral portrait using coloured pencils.

  


Colour Pencil & Watercolour Club Schedule 2017

You are invited to attend our Coloured Pencil and Watercolour Club meetings resuming in January 2017. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month to work on our own projects, exchange ideas and tips and hear about the newest art products. Hot drinks are provided; bring your own snacks.

Our monthly meetings in 2017 will be held:

Time: 10 am to 3 pm
