Location: 2727 Yonge Street, in the recreation room; Cost: $135

In the same way that working with several degrees of graphite hardness results in wide range of values, this new CP method allows us to go from soft colours to sharp details, ending with intense colour saturation. Students will work from photo references in order to focus directly on technique. They will aquire a solid base to be applied in the future when working from any kind of source. Students may bring their own photos or work from Raquel's.

Previous CP experience useful, not not essential. If you have any questions, call Raquel at (416) 498-9279.

To register, send your cheque to Raquel Baranyai, 203 Shaughnessy Blvd., #403, Toronto ON M2J 1J9.

FLORAL MORPHOLOGY COURSE, FALL 2009, with Dick Rauh

November 3 to 6 (Tuesday through Friday), 10 am to 4 pm, Earth Sciences Centre, U of T campus. Early-bird sign-up for BAC members: $315.

As botanical artists, we have all been touched by the beauty of the natural forms and structures we see in plants. Most of us soon realize that we could improve our drawing and painting of them if we understood these forms and structures a little better.

Dick Rauh, president of the American Association of Botanical Artists, teaches this course at the New York Botanical Garden, where it is a required course in the Botanical Art Certificate Program. BAC members who experienced Dick's workshop on tree drawing last year all agreed that he is truly a gifted teacher.
