Our spirited Annual General Meeting was held on September 24, 2015 in a lovely meeting room provided by Luisa Klopchic, refreshments organized by Mary Rose Woodbridge.
The highlight of the meeting was a digital presentation by Penny Milton, BAC member & Volunteer Consultant on the results of her organizational review of BAC which involved current and former members. The Coordinating Group discussed and prioritized her many recommendations and brought forward a plan to address 5 goals during this fiscal year. The motion to incorporate BAC as a charity and to revise BAC governance structure was approved by members who voted, either in person at the AGM or by email.
We now have a Vice President, Jackie Gallagher, and one new Regional Director in the west - Linda M. Le Geyt. Gail Finlayson offered to administer our Facebook Page along with Penny Milton. Jackie pointed out that we need more volunteers to step forward to help us through this next critical year of rebuilding and developing services that benefit our members and advance botanical art in Canada.
Other highlights of the meeting included a clear and detailed 2015-16 budget prepared by Treasurer, Karen Logan. Deirdre Mackintosh offered her enthusiastic membership report, Raquel Baranyai her communications report and Louise Hill her website report. A discussion on how to improve the website took place.
Karen Logan reported on the upcoming juried exhibition — we are all grateful for her immense organizational talent (with Gerry Jenkinson's support) in putting this together.
Myra Sourkes reported on the proposed American Society of Botanical Art global exhibition planned for May 2018. Members present were excited at the invitation from ASBA that BAC host the Canadian concurrent botanical art show.
The meeting adjourned with snacks, photos and thanks to our members.
