Linda M. Le Geyt

Linda’s focus is to capture the intricate details of botanical subjects and to express their quiet grace in watercolor. “I find that it is a continuing challenge to record and express the beauty of nature in an accurate yet lyrical fashion.”

Linda, who lives in the country southwest of Okotoks, was born in Calgary, Alberta, and completed an undergraduate degree in Interior Design at the University of Manitoba. She lived for an extended period in Hawai’i, where she received a Master of Arts degree. In the islands she found her sensitivities awakened to the intricacies and beauty of the plant world. Upon returning to Canada, Linda refined her artistic skills, registering in a Flower Painting course at Flatford Mill in England with Jennifer Andrews, a Botanical Illustration course with Anne-Marie Evans at Chatham College in Pennsylvania, and a Master Class with Jenny Philips of Australia in Pasadena, California.

Linda was one of two Canadian artists selected to exhibit in the first annual Northwest Exhibition of Botanical Art in Portland, Oregon, in 2003. In the summers of 2003 and 2004 her work was shown in Okotoks Art Walk. In March 2006, Linda wrote an article on the Alberta Wild Rose for albertaviews, a cutting edge magazine on culture, society and economics. The article included a painting of the rose. Linda held a one-person show at the Cultural Centre in Okotoks in 2007, and in 2008, she exhibited in the Small Works Show at the ASBA International Conference in Pasadena.

Linda continues to create original botanical works of art and can be contacted for commissions.
